On being brought to the boat, and confronted with Li-a-yuaw, Feng-a-wow went to Feng-tung-shik, the latter stated that this man Yung last winter went to the Government Offices at Hongkong to visit Li-a-jui, who gave him ten dollars. They had all eaten and dwelt together; and all the English Officers (some) also knew him. There can be no doubt with regard to this man. A statement was also made by Li-a-yuan, to the effect that no one was at Feng-a-jun's home beside his aged mother, 70 years old, who has long been confined to her bed and could not be removed. On interrogation of Li-yung with a view of ascertaining whether Ajini had gone, he stated that Ajini was not his son and in truth he knew nothing of the matter. We have no other course before us but to bring him to Sin-on."
